Fishing here in South Texas, near S. Padre Island, for the last
6 months I tell every fisherman (or Fisherlady) I run into if you
want to catch Speckled Trout,
nothing beats a DOA Shrimp.(My favorite: Clear with silver flake.) I've converted
a lot of live shrimp fisherman after they watch me catch one fish after
another on DOA shrimp.
It's a slow process for most people because they can't believe it! The
key to fishing a DOA Shrimp if your in a channel or moving water after your cast
let the shrimp
float down current for a while then start a SLOW steady retrieve keep the slack
out of your line at all times so you can feel the bite and when you do set the
hook immediately.
What I do most often is pull the Shrimp back to me slowly with the rod tip then
reel in the slack this way I'm more prepared for the strike and hook set.
If I'm fishing flats I'll do a slow retrieve just above the grass. Experiment
with a slow and SLOWER! retrieve.
On your next few outings use only a DOA Shrimp if the fish are there your stringers
gonna be full after that, you'll be a believer too!
Best Regards,
Fred Howard-San Diego,CA. |

Well I got a late start last Saturday and ended
up not going on the boat so I just went over to the marina right
by my house. I had my little 6’9 G Loomis with a 3000 stradic
using the world famous D.O.A Glow shrimp. That lure does work,
I got to my usual snook hole and I make a cast and I’m
about to pull the shrimp put of the water and I get whacked,
I had a short but sweet fight with this fish I had 40lb flouro
so I was able to hall it in. This was my first snook that I decided
to keep this season because I got it first cast and it was a
perfect length of 28.5 inches. The D.O.A glow shrimp NEVER fails
me.

My name is Garrett Rogers and I'm an 18 year
old college student at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. It was early
on April 2nd, 2009 when I was on my way to work. My boss called
me when I was half way to work and told me to wait another hour
before I came which somewhat upset me but I figured I would make
the best of it and make the short drive to North Padre island
and fish for 30 minutes or so before I had to go back to work.
I had heard that many local bait shop owners had been catching
massive amounts of bait ranging from mullet to piggy perch at
the dead end of a canal just south of Packery Channel which is
one of the main waterways that runs from Corpus Christi Bay out
into the Gulf. So I threw out about 5 casts into the dead center
of the canal when all of a sudden my arm was nearly ripped out
of its socket when my DOA Shrimp received a hard hit and then
the fight was on! After about a 20 second fight I landed this
massive snake-like fish that had teeth like an alligator and
the top fin fluttered like an eel.WHAT IS THIS THING...A SEA
MONSTER???!!!??? I was stunned and it took me a few seconds before
I realized this was a massive ribbon fish. I had caught ribbon
fish before but nothing more than a foot long or so. Nearby lay
a 2 x 4 peice of wood which served as a great club to send the
fish to the big fish oasis in the sky and also to save my fingers
from being biten off by the 1/2 inch razor sharp teeth sticking
out of its mouth. I thought to myself...this has to be a state
record...i've never heard of anyone catching ribbons this big.
So I threw the fish in the back of my truck and did my best to
keep the truck speed limit below 95 mph on the way to the weigh
in station due to my excitement of the catch. I scurried inside
the weigh station and told them I needed a really long measuring
tape and that I thought I had a state record. When they handed
me a 37 inch measuring tape I chuckled a little bit and said "this
thing aint long enough". They looked at me like I was crazy
and that there was no way I had a ribbon fish that was longer
then this tape. Finally they handed me standard construction
style measuring tape and I rushed to the bed of my truck to measure
with the interested weigh station employees following close behind.
51 Inches!!!!!! The employees could not beleive this thing was
a ribbon fish. We then hurried to the closest computer to look
up the previous state record. The old record was 39 inches long
and weighed 1.75 pounds. The fish I caught on the DOA Shrimp
measured 51 inches long and weighed in at 5 Lbs 2 Ounces. New
state record! The next day my best fishin partner Travis (who
taught me everything I know about saltwater fishing) and I went
out to the same spot where I caught that ribbon. We continued
to use DOA Shrimp with amazing results! Between the two of us
we caught 15 ribbon fish that ALL beat the old state record of
39 inches. Every single one of these ribbons were above 40 inches
long. Although we caught all of those my first giant ribbon still
holds the record. My hats off for you guys at DOA for producing
such a quality lure that allowed me to enjoy the fruits of the
saltwater on those two days. I look forward to the coming days
of warm Gulf water which will hopefully be filled with several
more giant fish caught on DOA products. |

I am writing this on behalf of my fifteen year
old son Max Norman, who does not know I am doing this. I
just took up and started salt water flats fishing IRL in Fort Pierce,
FL. January 2009. After hiring a guide and learning
some techniques and spots to fish I began catching fish on a regular
basis and persuaded my son Max to come along a few times but
he could never catch a fish or get the hang of pitching jigs. So
he decided flats fishing sucked and did not want to go anymore. Well
last weekend April 5th I convinced him to go one more time and
try it again at IRL Fort Pierce, FL. between North bridge and Queens
Cove on the east side. Well it started out the same till
it was suggested he tie on a DOA TerrorEyz 1/4oz. in
pearl and just swim it back over the flats and grass pockets. After
about another twenty minutes of nothing he announced DOA TerrorEyz
and flats fishing sucked!!! Guess what next cast his first trout
and a 20" trout at that, then two or three more casts
another nice 19+" trout and he is HOOKED!!!! We caught
and released more then a dozen and half different fish
over a 3 hour trip. From the smile on his face, he is
lovin this and note the TerrorEyz still attached. But thats
another whole story as it took him about five minutes handleing
to get the hook out after the pic was taken.
I have to thank DOA lures for saving fishing with my son.
I love and use almost exclusivly your DOA cal jigs, shad tails,
jerk baits, and shrimp. Everything fishes so easy and swims
so realistically with good directions and very simple rigging for
even a novice.
It would be so neat for him to win your testimonial, story of the
week and have his picture on your website and surprise him
with a DOA t shirt, size adult small.
Sincerely,
James B.
Max in the winner of a D.O.A. Tee shirt. |

Hey guys, this is my 1st Trout I ever caught and it was with
a DOA shad tail in Morning Glory. Caught it at Bear Point out
of my kayak reeling slow slow slowwwwwwwww and then got the hit.
It was one of the best days of my fishing life and I look forward
to catching many more this summer and in the tournament.
Thanks

Subject: The Past week of fishing
Hey guys,
This last week was a action packed week of fishing. Sunday night
Me and my buddy Brian threw in the yaks and got on some nice
snook. I ended up getting a 24, 26 and a 34 and my buddy Brian
ended up getting a 26'. We both were throwing the DOA CAL Jigs
I was using the arkansas glow and he was using the greenie on
a 1/4 ounce Jig Head. They were busting the mullet pretty hard, and
we made it back to the house in an hour and a half. So Monday
me and my brother Jeremy went out after we closed down the shop.
I got a chance to try out the new Wilderness Systems Ride 135
which is really actually a extremely stable boat and it kept
up with the Tarpon 140 with no problem. Anyways 2ND cast caught
a nice fat 34 inch snook and ended up getting 4 more snook 22-32
inches and my brother got 3 from 22-26 inches on the same CAL
arkansas glow on a 1/4 ounce jig head and they are just crushing
the jigs. Same deal as the night before made it back to the house
in about an hour and a half. Wednesday the conditions were pretty
nasty so I jumped on Tyson from Dogfish Tackle's boat and his
buddy Justin who used to work at Dogfish but now is a commercial
fisherman for Salt Rock. We put in at Bellair Boat framp with
the wind blowing at least 25 mph we were able to tuck behind
a couple of islands on the lee side and ended up finally getting
some real nice trout pretty much every cast was a good thing
to see using the CAL, Spooks, and 17MR. Had a few nice blow up
by big snook on the Spook. Tyson ended up managing getting this
nice 33 inch snook which surprisingly hit it three times before
he was hooked. So we slid way up in the Inter coastal I was ready
with the Cal and was able to manage 4 snook between 20-27 inches
and showed them how deadly the CAL can be. For a ruff day of
weather we did pretty good. Friday I had the Opportunity to fish
on my buddy's 43 Cabo for the King Of the Beach Tournament we
didn't end up getting the King. We had the right bait and just
wasn't place, but we made it look good.
Till next time,
Jason Stock

My thumb is a little roughed up after this afternoon. The snook
are stacked up in the backwaters and feeding pretty well. They
were crashing schools of mullet and ladyfish that moved up and
down the creek. My CAL Greenback (419) shadtail got whacked a
few times too. Here's some pics.
Until next time... Who says you can't have your fish and eat

It was getting near sunset when i got the nerve wrecking THUMP.
I had been fishing the D.O.A. glow 1/4 shrimp all day and had
been doing excellent. I set the hook on the fish and it made
a tremendous run out into the pass. After three more tremendous
runs and a ten minute fight, it turned out to be a 34.5 inch
bull redfish. The head on this redfish was bigger than mine!
This was an amazing catch thanks to the help of D.O.A. The only
lures that i use are the D.O.A lures and they have been an amazing
help with me catching fish. Thank you for such an amazing product!

Hi Buddy,
Not sure if I sent you this one, but it was a nice sunset, and
a good friend Shane Edgar. He recently started a guide service
here in Kayaks with David McCleaff. Both are great guys and good
friends.
We should hear some results from the Judge, the Magistrate found
my Ex wife in " willful contempt " of Court. She also
recommended to the Judge to strike all her pleadings.....We should
know in a week or so.
Did you ever see the Capt. Mel Berman Florida Fishing Weekly on
Triple Tail he did with me ? Grassett tells me there was mention
of DOA in it.
Kumiski will be here in 2 weeks or so, we are doing an article
on tailing reds.
Anyway, hope you are doing great, I'll be calling soon. |

On the last jaunt of my four day weekend, i decided to fish
a bridge and a few docks. Plan was to get up at 5AM go wake up
Ian...then head to the bridge. Alarm goes of at 5AM, but i just
couldn't do it, i waited another hour to get up...6AM rolls around
and a knock myself out of the bed, "ITS TIME TO FISH!"
I go to Ian's house, get him up, then we off...to get food. Its
our thing, we like to eat =) We got some breakfast, THEN we were
off! When we got there the tide was extremely high, higher than
it showed on the tide chart. (Our original plan was to go wading)
Glass minnows were everywhere! It just looked way to fishy. We
climb on down, and fished for a little while. I was throwing
a 4" Pearl fire tail jerk-bait on a 1/16th DOA jig-head,
and Ian was throwing a Capt. Mike spoon. Ian was casting in the
general direction of the minnows, and i was casting a little
further to the side and towards a dock Something ran through
the glass minnows and made a few nice pops, and i cast. I got
a hit but in the ruckas of reeling in my line in the wind, the
line wrapped around my spool and i lost it.
On our way over to the other side of the river, we spotted a
few jacks then we ran over to catch up with them! We made it
to the opening, and start casting for the jacks. First cast,
i didn't feel and thumps, but something to the right of me, caught
my eye. A nice shadow, over some sand was swifting in the tide.
SNOOK! "Hey Ian check out that snook i said". Kind
of funny after i think that is all i said in a calm manner...I
reeled up my line, cocked back my rod, BAD CAST! The fish didn't
spook, he just sat there in the tide swifting back and forth.
He knew we were there, so would he eat? Only one more cast could
tell... Cocked back the rod again, it wasn't a great cast, but
i worked it anyway. Slowly bouncing it, hoping to kick up some
sand, the fish seen it. =). There she goes! SHE ATE IT!
The fish didn't even attack the lure, just slowly picked it up.
I gave it a second, then set the hook! The fish didn't take off,
stayed in one place, shook her head, i bowed, THEN she moved.
She swam parallel to land, not making any big runs at first.
She made a few nice, slow motion head shakes, but amazingly she
didn't spit the hook. She swam left and then a little to the
right until i tired her out and brought her right to the land. "IAN
GET THE GRIPS!" I hollered. He did his job well, getting
the grips right to me ASAP! ;) The fish has been landed! He even
had a Remora stuck to him! How cool is that..... I still couldn't
believe the fish ate it after a bad cast, and the fish seen us
standing there.
A few pictures were taken, and the fish was released. He measured
about 33" 1/2 natural lay, so im thinking it would have
went a little over 34" pinched? In that case it would be
considered over slot! But for now ill just call it, "Top
of the slot!" My biggest snook yet! Im so excited...
Tight lines,

I was out fishing with my dad in our pond in our backyard. This
pond isn't a newly stocked pond, we have caught fish in their
that have been 13+, landed them, and weighed them on a certified
BogaGrip. Well we were out fishing with some shiners and we didn't
get anything the hole entire day. I mean not even a float moved.
We threw some topwaters and didn't get anything. We couldn't
believe it. I had my little light tackle out fit, I looked down
in my tackle box for anything that I could use, I hooked up a
Rapala X-RAP, and caught nothing, still. I looked down again
to this box, I glanced over the Storm Lures, that did me no good
today. I then looked into my saltwater section of my tackle box.
We had already used a Zara Spook, so it was already out. I decided
to tie on a 1/4 Oz 3 in DOA Pearl Shrimp. I cast it out, around
some lillypads and was jigging it on the bottom, I feal a strong
tug and no run. I thought to my self "Catfish". I then
ripped off about 100 yards of my Powerpro. I looked at my reel
and I could see the backing. I then tighted my drag and started
to reel. I kept feeling strong tugs. Maybe a carp? on a shrimp?
nah. I then felt slack in my line. "BAM" The fish jumped
out of the water like a whale jumps out of the water. I landed
with a big splash and took another line stripping run. I then
tighted my drag, even more! I then reeled in the fish with no
problem at all. I lifted the fish out of the water with my Bogagrip
and placed him on the ground to take the hook out. I am sitting
on my knee's and I look up to my dad. He is there with his mouth
wide open, his jaw touching the ground. I said "Whats amater?",
All he did was pointed. I took a look at the fish. It was gigantic.
I lifted the fish up and weighed him on the Boga Grip. 15lbs
6oz, A MONSTER. There was egg's dripping out of her stomach.
We snatched a picture of her, and then revived her and then she
was on her way. ALL ON A DOA LURE, THE ONE THAT CATCHES THEM
ALL. Thanks for everything I have caught 20+ species on your
shrimp, I have tried Gulp Shirmp, Storm Shrimp, but yours is
the best. |

Hi,
My name is Glenn from Boca Raton. I have been wanting to write
for awhile just to let you guys know of my recent discovery that
the bass in the canal behind my house love the DOA baitbuster.
I went online today to see what other colors you have and if
I can buy them in bulk because they have been working so well
both for saltwater and freshwater fish.
Yesterday I caught 2 small jacks on the same black/grayglitter
baitbuster ( I'm not sure which one but it has a silver hook
that comes out the front. It seems to run fairly shallow, so
I guess it could be the shallow runner or trolling version.)
The one I used today to catch the bass was definitely the shallow
version.
After checking out the info on the baitbusters, I noticed your
contest and went outside and caught these 2 bass within about
20 minutes. I'd say they're both about 2 lbs. maybe a little
heavier. Not too big, but not bad for less than 30 minutes of
fishing. I wish I had a good fight story like the last guy with
the snook but these are just bass you know. Im hoping to catch
some more out there soon and may send in some more pictures of
bigger fish if thats allowed. I also couldn't include myself
in the pics because it was just me out there. You aren't missing
anything special there though.
Thanks Glenn |
