Peacock Bass Lures

Peacock bass hunt by sight and they hunt fast. Unlike almost everything else in this catalog, the mistake with peacocks is fishing too slowly — they chase down a fleeing baitfish and they lose interest in anything that stalls.

How to fish for peacock bass

In the South Florida canal system, work seawalls, culverts, bridge shadows and any spot where the bottom changes depth. Cast past the fish, then retrieve fast and steady. If a peacock follows without eating, speed up rather than slowing down.

The Swimmin' Mullet is a straight cast-and-crank bait at 5" and 1 oz, with a single upright hook that keeps it out of the rocks and rip-rap these fish live in. The Tiny TerrorEyz covers smaller fish and pressured canals where a big profile gets refused.

Peacocks respond to bright, high-contrast color in a way most gamefish do not. Chartreuse, Electric Chicken, Pink Ice and Gold Glitter all earn their place. Fluorocarbon leader of 20–30 lb is enough — these fish are not leader-shy, but they will wrap you in structure if given the chance.
